CFMEU General Activities
* Improves wages and conditions by award changes, EB Agreements and by negotiating agreements:
* Lobbying governments and politicians for improvements to policies and legislation.

Free Financial Planning
* Financial members can obtain free financial advice from a Financial Planner to help achieve financial and lifestyle goals.

CFMEU Wage Claim System
* Pursues underpayment of superannuation, redundancy and wages through negotiations and/or court. Retrieves over $1 million a year for members

CFMEU Legal Assistance
* Pursues claims for members such as unfair dismissals, victimisation etc. We also provide assistance and recommendations on compensation rights and can attend tribunal hearings with our members.

* Financial members (up to the age of 70) and their immediate family are covered by a funeral benefit. You will be reimbursed for the cost of the funeral service up to a maximum of $7,000

* In the event of the death of a member’s spouse, financial members can access assistance with child care payments for up to 2 years through the BERT Welfare Fund for children up to the age of 13 who are living with the member.

* Established law firm which, on referral from the CFMEU, provides discounted legal services in family law, criminal law etc. Will Kit and initial consultation for any legal advice is free of charge.

* Financial members (up to the age of 70) and their immediate family are covered for dental costs for procedures to teeth caused by accidental damage which occurs outside of working hours.

* Financial members can access free counselling for private or work related matters

CIPQ – Portable Unused Sick Leave
* Members employed under construction EBAs are able to bank unused sick leave to use when needed. Sick leave credits are transportable throughout the construction industry.

CFMEU Apprentice Scholarship
* The purpose of the Scholarship is to assist our member’s children and others to get a start in life as apprentices in the construction industry. The Scheme recruits and places applicants with participating employers. We also provide subsidies to these employers and employ a full time field officer to ensure our apprentices are correctly trained.

Income Protection – CIPQ
* Members employed under construction EBAs are now insured for loss of income through accidental and/or illness.

CFMEU Publications
* Regularly produces two publications: “The Way Forward” and “Construction Worker”. Also produces wage rate sheets and dozens of information leaflets.

$11 Hand Tool Insurance
